I’m going to let you in on a little secret.. I’m going to tell you how I improve my website ranking. It is easier to improve your website’s search engine rankings than you might think. Choosing the proper keywords, and making sure your site has enough relevant content are the keys to making it work.

To get traffic to your website, it’s best to focus on certain keywords. Choose keywords related to your niche that have thousands of searches every month, but not too many other websites competing for those exact phrases. When you do a search using those keywords, there should not be too many other sites with those exact phrases in their titles or domains. If you use the exact phrase in your site title and domain, you should be able to outrank the other sites. Putting the keywords in your domain name, HTML title tags, and header tags is a great first step to getting a good website ranking.

Other places to put your keywords are in the alt tags of images or sprinkled throughout the text of your site. But don’t overdo it. If you use the keyword too many times it will look like spam, and your site will lose whatever ranking it had. Only use the keywords where they make sense. It should seem natural. Once per paragraph in an article or blog entry is plenty. Using the keywords close to the beginning of the article gives them a bit more weight also.

Adding content to your site will improve your site’s ranking in the search engines. The more pages your site has, the more the search engines have to crawl. Your main pages should focus on your main keywords, but subsequent pages on your site can branch out and focus on related keywords. Articles or blog entries should be added to your site regularly, each one focused on different sets of keywords. The more often you add content, the more often your site will be crawled by the search engines. Linking to your site, from another blog or site, will make it more visible to the search engines. It will be more likely to be crawled and indexed, eventually leading to it ranking well.

A link building campaign, when done right, is one of the most effective and efficient ways of driving traffic, promoting products or services and increasing a business’ ROI (return of investment) overall. Almost any one can do extremely well for itself if it is one of the top 3 results for a major (high volume) key term. It’s like choosing the location of an ice cream shop. If your shop is located just off some highway out in the middle of Nowhere, Idaho your not going to get much bussiness, but if you have a small stand parked smack in the middle of Time Square, odds are much more likely that passers by are going to buy and you are going to make money. A well managed linkbuilding campaign can help you park your website at the top of the Google, Yahoo and MSN search engines.

Make Your Job Easier
A linkbuilding campaign, while simple enough to design and maintain, is made easier with the help of software programs designed especially for creating and maintaining an effective linkbuilding campaign.

Backlinks, for those who do not know, are hyperlinks using that use anchor keywords to maximize the potential of the links being clicked on. Additionally, the better the quality and placement of the backlinks the more chance there is of the search engine spiders indexing the web page the links are placed on. This in turn raises the page rank of the website, pushing it to the front of the searches for the particular keyword. In a way, Google and other search engines like to see other people are talking about you. Think of the word “ranking” and the word “popularity”. Google wants to be cool and hang out with all the popular people. After all, for major search engines it is all about giving the people what they want to see, and if others like you and talk about you then Google, Yahoo and MSN are pretty sure that if they recommend you that people will be happy with their search results and in turn like the search engine they used. This process, while is straightforward enough, is made easier when using software that will manage the backlinks (manage your sites popularity) within the linkbuilding campaign.

Benefits Of Tracking Your Links with Backlink Software
Some of the benefits of using software, aside form the more efficient crawling of the indexed web pages include:

Backlink Reports

Backlink PR Checker

Reciprocal Link Tracking

“No-Follow” Meta Tracker

Link Exchange Monitoring

Find Long (Not Lost) Backlinks

Verify Paid Links are Still LIVE!

Store Link Partners Contact Info

Keywords Campaign Management

The ability of backlink software to keep track of all links, no matter on how many websites they are placed on is only part of the reason this type of software makes life easier for the webmasters. The fact of the matter is that backlink software is automated, meaning that it can keep track of live links, dead links, nofollow links, link age, link PR and much more.

The information this produces is exceptionally valuable to any webmaster and allows the webmaster to focus on things that are more important such as click through sales, design and more link building. This entire process allows webmasters to spend less time managing a very important but tedious part of his work. Less time spent managing the backlinks means less time wasted. In other words, the webmaster is producing a more effective backlink campaign, which is increasing his rankings in major search engines with the least amount of work; and this will increase sales, profit and over all it is an effective use of time. A webmaster should be concerned about how many more links he needs to get, not the who, what, when, where and how many links to his site are still active. He need not lose time and money any longer maintaining the backlinks that a software program can track for him in a fraction of the time.

Backlink software is, by far, the most effective means of performing these menial tasks. Why should a webmaster have to spend hours out of their day to do the same job a backlink tracking software program can do, but better than any human can?

Using backlinks to build a successful online campaign to market your websites products or a specific service is one of many search engine optimization techniques. The management of these backlinks is sometimes quite frustrating and can cost a lot of unnecessary time and effort and in many cases is never done. Yet it is vital that search engines see a natural link campaign to avoid any penalties and it is important also that YOU know whether or not all your hard work is going to waste. This is why a webmaster should consider using an online link manager to help manage the hundreds of backlinks to the website.

Backlinking is the art of successfully adding hyperlinks within a website’s content and directing the links to the your website. Using perfectly placed anchor text, meaning using the right keywords is the best way to use backlinks. They will not only help the website retain a good page rank, but the right backlinks using the proper keywords as the link’s anchor text can increase your rankings on search engine result pages which in turn will drive traffic and increase sales.

Sometimes, when a webmaster has a bulk number of backlinks placed at once it makes the management of these links almost impossible. Using an online link manager will manage the links automatically, saving time and effort better spent promoting the website. An online link manager will also notify the webmaster of any links that are removed by the website. For example, say a request of the placement of 10 links has been made with a blogger. If any of these links go unused or if they are removed, the webmaster would have no way of knowing unless he attempted to click on each link placed on the various websites. No webmaster has time to do this, even if it was only once a year. A link management tool will go out and check the links for you, saving the webmaster hours of work and making his time more efficient.

The ability of an online link manager tool does not end with the management of the links. A good link managing software can also find no-follow links and notify you of them. With this tool you will know if your anchor text will have any value to the major search engines. This is probably the most beneficial services preformed by a top of the line link manager.

With so many links to keep track of, from other websites, forum postings, blog postings, signatures and more, an online link manager can keep all of the links in control. Analyzing the keyword uage and popularity of the links and notifying the webmaster of any errors found when trying to verify the link and anchor text. Saving time and money is the other half of the benefit that an online link manager can provide, not to mention keeping the webmaster’s sanity intact.

A website is a burden rather than a source of income, if it doesn’t have organic traffic that makes money. The proven way to get targeted organic traffic is from search engines. Google, Bing, Yahoo can drive lots of targeted organic traffic to your site but in order to enjoy this, you need to optimize your site. Out of the many steps you can take in order to optimize your site, link building is the most important.

The effect of links at blogs, directories, link exchanges and even paid backlinks on your SEO can be substantial but you will never know this for sure, if you don’t have a link tracker at your disposal.

Track Your Links with Link Management Software

- Click Here for Free Link Tracking -

When a webmaster is still a beginner, for him link building starts and ends with posting the link to your site on other sites. While this is certainly important to do, link building doesn’t end here. In addition to posting your link, you need to make sure that it stays there.

This is where link tracking software comes to the rescue. You can’t afford to spend days on end building your backlinks and these links to die soon after you post them. A dead links doesn’t promote your site and it is useless. You might try to check all your existing backlinks one by one to see which ones are still there but this is a pointless task, when you are dealing with thousands of backlinks. If you have nothing to do and feel like wasting your time, you might try manual backling tracking but the better approach is to use a link tracker.

A link tracker is a software application, which stores data about your backlinks. Once you enter the data, the link tracker does all the rest – it checks your links and if there is a problem with any of them, you will be notified about this problem.

A link tracker can have other extras as well. For instance, it can report not only if the backlink is missing or not but also the PR of the linking page. PR of the linking page matters a lot because when the PR is higher, this makes search engines rank your page higher, too.

Link trackers, for instance BacklinkReporter.com automate the task of monitoring your backlinks and make you more productive. This way you can concentrate on more important SEO tasks and leave the routine checks of the status of your backlinks to BacklinkReporter. Time is money, so why waste it on tasks you can outsource to a link tracker?

Well targeted, organic visitors are what makes or breaks a site. These visitors come mainly from search engines, which means that if you want well targeted, organic visitors to your site, you need to rank well with search engines. Search engines can help you make lots of money from your site but only if you know how to optimize your site and above all how to build backlinks to your site.

Backlinks can be obtained from blogs, sites, articles about your site, link exchanges, etc. and these backlinks will make your site more popular. However, building backlinks without tracking them is pointless – this is why you need a link tracker.

Track Your Link with a Backlink Manager

* Click Here – It’s Free! *

You might think that once you place a backlink to your site, you are done. No, you aren’t. Why? Because way too often your backlinks will disappear pretty soon. This is the way unreliable backlinks are and if you want to keep an eye on them, you need a link tracker to monitor them.

A link tracker is a great helper to any webmaster. Just imagine how much time and resources you spend to get quality links from other sites and all of a sudden you realize that all your efforts are in vain because the links are no longer available and the worst is that you are not aware of this. If you want to avoid such unpleasant situations, you need to monitor the fate of your backlinks. With tons of backlinks this means you will have to do it all day long, which is impossible. Just get a link tracker and enjoy life.

A link tracker not only stores all the links to your site but it also regularly checks if the links are OK. When the link checker detects a problem with a backlink of yours, it notifies you, so that you can take the adequate measures.

Another feature good link trackers have is the ability to show the PR of the originating page. PR plays a role in SEO because the higher the PR of the pages where your backlink is located, the better. This is why it is helpful when you are able to see not only a particular backlink is alive or not but also the PR of the page.

Link tracking technologies make it more efficient for a webmaster to promote their sites. With a link tracker, for instance the free BacklinkReporter.com, you can leave the hard work to the tool and spend your time and resources in a more productive way. You do what you do best, the link tracker does it job and everybody is happy!

All SEO/SEM professionals and novices know the value of a strategic backlink building campaign and a backlink checker tool when the goal is to increase rankings on “the big 3″ SERP’s. Why? Because backlinks that are scattered all over random spots on the internet “naturally” are what Google might consider “Coffee talk”. Google knows that if people are talking, referencing and/or referring their own visitors to you, there might be something there worthy of Google, Yahoo or MSN to refer. But imitating this type of “natural” world wide web dynamic is not as easy as buying 100 blog links and 500 directory submissions. Google, for example, is not dumb. They know when your faking it. The secret is to regularly check, track and monitor the type and value of the backlinks you get.

Varify ALL Your Backlinks – It’s Totally Free!

Here are a few of the different types of backlinks you should aquire to imitate a very natural, organic link building happening.

Directory Submissions – 150 or so to start out and that may be all you need.

Press Release – Of course Google, Yahoo and MSN know that any new business would send out a PR so they watch for it.

Articles (text links) – When promoting your site it helps a ton to write articles in article directories and add links to it that point to your site.

Blogs and Forums – These are not extremely valuable types of backlinks but naturally people are going to talk about you so do it.

Starting off with a slow campaign of these a few of each of these link types is a great way to naturally get cached in the major search directories. However, after a healthy backlink building campaign has been going for some time even most SEO/SEM pro’s find that it’s hard to keep track of where they are in their link building efforts and often don’t even know if some of the old links they got are even still up at all. This is where the real pro’s stand out from the wanna be pro’s. When you utilize a backlink checking software you are able to continuesly check, track and monitor the links you spend dollars and hours collecting.

Over the last decade or so, the Internet has become a competitive venue for businesses all over the world. The potential to reach millions of web users has prompted many webmasters to go the extra mile when it comes to getting their websites ahead of the pack and at the top of the search engine results page for targeted keywords. Link building (when done right) can be an vital and extremely important part of search engine optimization.

There are many good methods when it comes to establishing a solid link network as well as tactics that should be avoided at all costs. Establishing good links that point to a website can not only help boost a website’s page rank but also help build credibility too. Bad or “Black Hat” methods can destroy a particular website’s credibility, as well as risk losing page rank or even worse, total removal from a search engine’s index. Here we will explain some of the good and bad link building techniques used today.

Directory Submission Links

Submitting website links to Internet directories can be a great start with regard to link building. Internet directories can cover regional searches, niche topics, as well as general search inquiries. Internet search directories usually hold a good page ranking. Because of a directory’s good page ranking, a website that is linked with many can see positive results in terms of their page ranking getting a boost. Examples of reputable general website directories include Yahoo and MSN. While free Internet directories can be great way to increase ranking among the search engines, it can take some time for a website to get included due to the overwhelming amount of submissions they receive. Paid niche directories can add even more exposure while taking less time to see results. There are literally thousands of internet directories available at the webmaster’s disposal as well as many online companies that will take on the tedious task of submission for a reasonable fee.

Link Farms - ”100,000,000 Links for $99″

Link farming is considered one of the most underhanded attempts at increasing search result ranking when it comes to link building. Also known as a form of “Spamdexing”, link farming is a process where inbound links are provided, usually through an automated process, for a nominal fee. This tactic became extremely popular with Internet business, however, it has been shunned by most reputable webmasters as the consequences of doing so can result in a website being penalized or completely removed from a search engine index. In an effort to provide more relevant results to the casual Internet user, search engine companies have cracked down on websites that link to several other web pages that do not share relevant content with each other. Fly-by-night search engine optimization companies that offer this type of service to their customers should be avoided at all costs. While short term page ranking gains may be obtained by link farming, search engine providers have streamlined the process when it comes to finding and punishing offenders who use this method.

Blog Links

Having good inbound blog links can be risky business but can also serve a couple of good purposes. Extremely good ranking blogs that feature a website’s link to a website can not only help where link building is concerned but can also shed a positive light on a website when it comes to a particular product or service. Trusted blogs with a high amount of readership can do wonders where exposure is concerned. This is especially true if the blog’s content directly relates to a website’s particular niche or topic area. Contextual links that are usually associated with a specific topic or review supported by relevant content are always preferred over irrelevant links posted on a blogs sidebar or similar. Sidebar links that are placed on a blog that do not share any commonality with a website could easily be considered a party to link farming by a search engine. It can also be difficult to convince a highly ranked blog to consider the inquiring website inclusion. While it is easier to have a lesser performing blog to do a flattering post about a website, the efforts usually prove fruitless if the blog has a very small readership or is not ranked well within a search engines index.

Link Exchanges

Link exchanges can be a great way to target specific traffic to a website. While these reciprocal relationships can be setup on a personal webmaster to webmaster basis, many popular link exchange websites have been setup to quickly find partners that operate websites that share similar content or related topics with each other. It is the responsibility of the website owners to incorporate and maintain the link partner’s graphic banners or standard text links on their websites to continue the relationship. This kind of traffic sharing when equally distributed can be beneficial to both parties who wish to draw in more customers or causal Internet patrons. It is essential for the webmaster wanting to perform a link exchange with another website to do a little page rank checking and other statistical checks regarding the amount of traffic the other website receives before committing to relationship. The better the ranking and traffic numbers of the other website willing to share links, the better the chance at receiving a hike in visitors from that website.

Paid & Rented Links

There has been quite a controversy where Google is concerned when it comes to paying for and renting links. Google’s stance on paying for link space on another website can promote abuse while many in the SEO community feel differently. Buying advertising space on a relevant website can be a great way to drive traffic to the purchasing partner’s website as well as provide a lucrative means of income for the advertiser. While using paid links for the sole intention to gain a better page rank is a violation of Google’s guidelines, using the “nofollow” attribute will ensure compliance where Google is concerned. The “nofollow” attribute simply tells the Google website crawlers to exclude the link from being considered in page ranking. Many webmasters choose to disregard these guidelines; however, if caught by Google, the offending website can be penalized. No matter what approach is taken, purchasing links from a website that will provide a good return on an investment can yield fantastic results for a webmaster who wishes to increase their traffic.

Press Release Links

Press releases are often touted as one of the most prestigious and trusted ways to get the word out about a business or niche website. A press release will provide great coverage about a websites dealings, as well as good inbound links, for a relatively low cost. When a press release is submitted to various news wire organizations on the Internet, reputable news outlets and journalists alike have the ability to use this information in conjunction with a story or as a credible resource. Because news organizations have the ability to reach millions of people across the globe, a great deal of traffic from respected high page ranked sources can propel a website’s exposure greatly. Press releases can also be picked up multiple times by various news sources for months and even years to come. Many websites issue several press releases in order to keep the public abreast of new services and products.

Forum Links

Having a good web presence in Internet forums can be a fast and easy way to gain exposure. Web forums consist of conversational threads that can deal with a wide variety of topics. The forums can be of a casual or informative nature. Active participants can usually include what are called signature links that point to specific web pages or to a website itself for general purposes. This can be a great venue for free advertising, however, forum posters that use this method for link building must be careful not to appear “spammy” when contributing. Although certain behaviors when trying to promote a website on a forum are frowned upon, helpful and related advertising plugs that point to a website or web page may be allowed. For example, if a poster is looking for a particular product or service, a contributor to the forum can provide a link to a website that will help the inquirer meet their needs. Other Internet searchers, with a similar question or need as the original poster, can happen upon the same page and also be directed to the web site.

3 Way Links

Three way links offer more benefits or disguise when it comes to link exchanges. Because one way links are more valued than reciprocal links, three way links give a more natural feel when it comes to search engines. Having an excessive amount of reciprocal links on a web site can give the appearance of link farming. If a search engine suspects the tactic of link farming involved in a web site, harsh penalties can be enacted. In a three way link scheme, site number one is linked directly to site number two, while site number two is linked to site number three. The third website then provides a one way link to the first website, giving the all important inbound link needed to improve the first websites page rank. Many internet services are available to provide a strong three way link network for a website. Webmasters may also utilize their own websites, on different domains, to accomplish their own three way links.

One Way Text Links

These are the most commonly used methods to obtain an inbound link for a website. Although not as noticeable to an average Internet surfer as a contextual link from a website review or plug, one way text links that appear in a sidebar can be invaluable when presented on a high ranking website. This is due to the link being visible on every webpage regardless of the main content displayed. Webmasters who are fortunate enough to have an inbound link presented on a well ranked website can see a lot of traffic in a short amount of time. Webmasters should always seek out websites that share similar content topics as non related links on a website can appear to be spam or an undesirable advertisement. One of the best ways to receive inbound links in this manner is to provide interesting and useful information or products on a website. The more useful and informative a website is, the better possibility of another website linking to it.

Article Links

Freelance content websites offer a great opportunity when it comes to driving in more traffic while providing great and useful information to Internet users. Articles that have direct inbound links to a website give users a wealth of information about a particular topic or product that can eventually prompt them to learn more by clicking on a link to the author’s website. This is a less invasive way to build a potential customer’s trust as well as build page ranking for a website. An article submission site such as Ezinearticles.com allows authors to post content for free and has a proven track record when it comes to added press for a website. Other freelance writing websites are available that, depending upon the topic or content can actually provide quality back links with the opportunity to share in ad revenue.

Maximize Your Efforts

After spending a great deal of time getting a website to rank well within the most popular search engines used today through article links, one way text links, press release links, forum links and 3 way linking, webmasters who are serious about getting the most out of their efforts will employ the services of a reputable link tracker. Keeping track of purchased links and analyzing whether or not a paid link is still active can save a great deal of time and money. The sophisticated BacklinkReporter Tool can keep track of active and dead links as well as add/edit pertinent information concerning webmaster contact information, link purchase rates, and keywords in order to maximize your efforts while working on your link building campaign.

Anyone who has used link exchanges as a means to get backlinks has certainly had the doubt, “I wonder if they’ll keep my link up on their site…” And anyone who has actually spent (read: wasted) the time going back to those sites periodically to check on those links has likely found that that doubt became a reality and that some of their links are no longer there. And while I’m sure that most of you are far too busy to actually verify that your links are still live, you can’t help but be a little frustrated by the fact that they could always drop their end of the deal anytime by taking off your link.

This frustration was one of the reasons I started Backlink Reporter. I wanted a tool that could quickly check all of my backlinks and tell me if they were still live or not. I couldn’t find such a tool, so I created one.

Now with the click of a button I get a complete report of all the backlinks I’ve chosen to track. The first item in the report? Whether or not the link is still live. If it’s no longer showing up, I can simply click on the contact email for that website owner and email them asking why it’s been removed.

The tool doesn’t just verify the status of the links, however. It’s also a great tool to track your anchor texts, date added, PR, price paid, and more. It’s become an integral part of my link building as I can now quickly see the keywords that I’ve focused on and where I need focus next.

To learn more about Backlink Reporter, simply click on the link at the top-right of this page or go to www.backlinkreporter.com/. It’s a free service that’s sure to help you better manage your link building efforts.
